The Oakland Ballet performs four new works featuring an eclectic mix of dance, spoken word and visual arts. Artistic director Graham Lustig offers his world-premiere Words Within Words, based on a poem by Oakland's Robert Duncan, with music by Philip Glass and art by Karlya Benjamin. Choreographer Sonya Delwaide's new tongue-in-cheek work is set to Mozart. Also included is Lustig's VISTA, a full-company piece with a jazz score. See the description for complete program details.

The Oakland Ballet company is a non-profit ballet company based in Oakland, California since its foundation in 1961. It often performs in the NHL Art-Deco Paramount Theatre. Ronn Guidi served as artistic director from 1961 through 1996. In 2006, the organization closed temporarily, but was restarted in 2007. The Oakland Ballet Company went successfully until 2008 when Ronn Guidi retired.
